Type 518 Electro-Lifting-Magnet 518 are used in both handling and heavy-duty applications. They are used for handling and transporting all kinds of steel products. The magnetic field is generated by the DC excitation winding. The coil encloses an iron core, which is connected to the yoke and leg. This creates a north and south pole.

 

The magnet body is made of special steel with high magnetic conductivity. The coil chamber can be protected with a pole plate for rough applications. The winding is made of highly insulated copper or aluminium wire and is cast into the solenoid housing, completely protected against vibration and moisture. The electrical connection on the back of the solenoid is protected against damage by a solid steel protective cover.

 

The optimised design of the solenoid housing ensures high holding forces, even with large air gaps. With a continuous centre pole, mass parts can be detected right up to the outermost edge area over the entire length of the magnet. Due to the different magnet widths with different depth effects, special applications such as individual transport or package transport of metal sheets are also possible.

 

If the electric lifting magnet is not used exclusively in the secured area, a backup battery and an automatic warning device for signalling power failure are required in accordance with EN13155. This ensures that the parts to be transported can continue to be held safely and emergency measures can be initiated. After switching off or in the event of a power failure, the parts are released immediately or with a slight delay, depending on the material and weight.
