The type 1150 has a high holding force due to the pendulum pole pitch.
Electro-permanent magnetic clamping plates(EPM clamping plates) combine the clamping force of permanent magnets with the advantages of switchable electromagnets. The holding force is generated by a current pulse and is maintained even if the current is interrupted. They therefore fulfil all the requirements for safety, precision and ease of use. The activated magnetic clamping plate with clamped workpiece can be transferred to several machining stations . This makes the WAGNER EPM clamping plates particularly suitable for pallet changing systems or line production.
Pole changes occur at the individual poles of the symmetrically divided pole plate surface in both the transverse and longitudinal directions . This design allows clamping up to the outermost edge of the pole surface. The even distribution of the magnetic forces significantly increases the adhesive force. These magnets are therefore particularly suitable for rough grinding work with high performance . Even workpieces with a high alloy content are held securely.
The switching operations for switching the holding force on and off are performed by a short current surge. The power supply is interrupted during the machining process so that no heat is generated by the active magnet. Tolerance problems due to temperature fluctuations are therefore eliminated.

Functional principle
Electro-magnetic clamping systems essentially consist of three components:
- a solid steel base
- a copper winding
- a pole plate
The winding is moulded into the lower part and is therefore reliably protected against vibrations and moisture ingress.

In practical use, the pole plate is subject to wear. It is therefore designed in such a way that it can be reworked many times before the wear limit is reached. The pole plate can be easily replaced, which considerably increases the service life of the entire chuck.
