Electro-Permanent-Magnet-Clamping-Plate 1120
with cross-pole pitch
Our type 1120 electro-permanent magnetic clamping plates with continuous transverse pole pitch have a real polarity change from pole to pole. This achieves a uniform holding force over the entire pole surface of the magnet and the clamping surface of a workpiece.
At pole distance "p", steel poles are separated by brass discs so that alternating north and south poles are created. We manufacture the type 1120 as listed in the pole distances 11, 13, 18 and 25 mm. Other pole distances are possible as special designs.
Magnetic holding forces take effect as soon as a magnetisable workpiece bridges at least one north and south pole. Lateral clamping on the long side of the pole plate is also possible with this continuous pole spacing.
Stop bars on the long sides must be made of non-magnetic material to prevent a magnetic short circuit.
Electro-permanent magnetic clamping plates combine the clamping force of permanent magnets with the advantageous switching options of a purely electric design. They therefore fulfil all the requirements for precision, safety and ease of use.
The power supply is interrupted during the operating process so that no heat is generated by the active magnet. This eliminates problems caused by inaccuracies due to temperature fluctuations. The switching operations are performed by a short current surge. The homogeneous design of the magnet system and the pole plate offers maximum precision. In the event of a power failure, the energised clamping plate retains its full holding force, thus ensuring operational safety. In addition, the power supply to the magnet can be disconnected after the clamping pulse. The magnet with clamped workpiece can therefore be used at several stations(pallet changing system) without a power supply.
Functional principle
Electro-magnetic clamping systems essentially consist of three components:
- a solid steel base
- a copper winding
- a pole plate
The winding is moulded into the lower part and is therefore reliably protected against vibrations and moisture ingress.
A decisive quality feature of WAGNER clamping systems is the optimum balance between electrical power consumption and achievable magnetic force.
A decisive quality feature of WAGNER clamping systems is the optimum balance between electrical power consumption and achievable magnetic force.
In practical use, the pole plate is subject to wear. It is therefore designed in such a way that it can be reworked many times before the wear limit is reached. The pole plate can be easily replaced, which considerably increases the service life of the entire chuck.
