Type 1210V electro-permanent magnetic chucks with radial pole pitch and increased holding force are particularly suitable for centric clamping of rings, flanges, bearing housings and similar rotationally symmetrical components.
The reinforced version is the first choice wherever maximum holding forces are required, e.g. for bridging air gaps on uneven workpieces, when using pole extensions or for magnetically critical materials.
Electro-permanent magnetic chucks are mainly used for cylindrical grinding, turning and milling on machining centres.
Maximum precision is achieved by energy-conscious magnetisation of the chuck via an exact current pulse. The magnet is then de-energised and is particularly suitable for machining processes in the μm range. The radial pole arrangement is suitable for releasing the workpieces via pole shoes. This clearance serves as a run-out area for the grinding wheels on the inside and outside. The workpiece can therefore be finished on three sides in a single clamping operation with optimum shape and position tolerances.
A special area of application for this clamping system is certainly the hard turning of ball bearing rings. The bearing ring is clamped via pole shoes or directly on the electro-permanent magnetic chuck. A corresponding mould radius serves as a run-out area for the hard turning tool.

Functional principle
Electro-magnetic clamping systems essentially consist of three components:
- a solid steel base
- a copper winding
- a pole plate
The winding is moulded into the lower part and is therefore reliably protected against vibrations and moisture ingress.

In practical use, the pole plate is subject to wear. It is therefore designed in such a way that it can be reworked many times before the wear limit is reached. The pole plate can be easily replaced, which considerably increases the service life of the entire chuck.
